Water Quality and Wildlife

Combining a passion for nature, love of water, and desire to leave the world a better place, Kay Stefanik is a fervid advocate for wetlands across Iowa’s landscape. As Assistant Director of the Iowa Nutrient Research Center, Kay is playing a pivotal role in elevating wetlands- and water quality-related outreach across the state. Kay was instrumental in designing a series of three museum-quality wetland models for the Conservation Station Marsh Madness trailer, launched in 2021, providing public education and outreach on what different types of wetlands look like, landscape position, how water flows through them, and the numerous benefits of wetlands – showcasing the science and the beauty of wetlands to Iowans of all walks of life.
