Karen Wilke

Water Quality and Wildlife

From growing up playing in the woods of suburban Chicago, to spending summers on the Mississippi River during her college years, to sharing her love of nature with two young sons, Karen Wilke is certainly most at home in the great outdoors. Through her work with The Nature Conservancy as Iowa Freshwater Specialist and Boone River Project Director, Karen loves working with landowners across the state on wetland restoration projects (particularly oxbows) and learning about their deep connections with the land. Karen’s passion for education and outreach, along with the land, water, people and culture of the Midwest, is truly contagious!
